There are more than 900 youth in the foster care system in Linn County alone. Come learn more about how we can work together to make life better for those who otherwise might fall between the cracks at the sixth annual Fostering Strength advocacy luncheon. This event is Junior League of Cedar Rapids’ largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the Fostering Strength fundraiser support Junior League of Cedar Rapids’ Bridging the G.A.P. project, which assists local foster care youth through a variety of activities. Meet our keynote speaker, Charell Star

Charell is a journalist, online media personality, contributor and featured lifestyle expert. Charell is also a former foster care youth and knows first hand the challenges facing the foster care population. She has been passionate about partnering with organizations, advocates, and brands that provide foster youth needed services, support and encouragement over the years. Charell has been appointed to the Board of Directors of CASA NYC and City Living NYC. Both organizations cater to making sure the needs of Foster care youth are met and that their rights are protected.
