After much thought and consideration, Junior League of Cedar Rapids has decided to discontinue the Butterfly Kisses event. With JLCR holding the event for 17 years we know this decision will bring sadness to many people, including myself. However; we are excited as an organization to focus our efforts on our Bridging the G.A.P. project, which provides support for teens aging out of the foster care system.
So much hard work and passion has gone into this event over the years and our membership and community have continued to support it. Our members have worked tirelessly each year to keep it fresh, come up with themes, and find ways to continue to keep life in it. In addition to that there are now at least 3 other father/daughter events in Cedar Rapids alone. While we have worked to keep our event top notch above the others, with this comes higher costs and higher ticket prices.
We can’t thank our vendors and past attendees enough for your support on the event in the past. We will miss bringing so much joy to little girls and their dads, and I hope they are able to attend another one of the local father/daughter dances. But we are also excited for the future. We look forward to our Fostering Strength event, which is scheduled for April 30, 2019.
